Product life cycle management
The challenge for product and portfolio managers
Product managers have to do far more than maximise sales and profitability; they must also take a long-term view of value management - where is value being created and destroyed in the product life cycle?
Portfolio managers need to take a wider view; should they invest in new product development, acquire or license - or divest? Again, portfolio managers must take a long-term view of value creation.
Product and portfolio management is fundamentally concerned with resource management - competing investment opportunities must be managed through time, with value as the ultimate objective. The dynamics of these interdependent decisions are complex - and often counter-intuitive.
2-day Workshop - "Fly the Product Life Cycle"
This short programme is for senior and mid-level managers in R&D, sales/marketing, finance, strategic planning, licensing, business development and portfolio management.
The programme addresses a critical challenge in many industries - how to create real value through strategic product and portfolio management? The programme is based on prioritizing and allocating scarce resources in pharmaceuticals, but is applicable to any portfolio of products in many industries. It introduces participants to a new structural approach for managing product pipelines and product portfolios, within a long-term value framework.
Product life cycle management is integrated within the wider business portfolio management framework. Simulations are the primary learning medium; managers will be able to explore and test a range of product and portfolio management strategies.
Delegates will take away simulations for further learning and dissemination within their organisations.
